About Jacob

I am currently a mechanical engineering student with a strong background in Chemistry, Math, and other STEM subjects. Throughout high school I taught piano and swim to children, which helped me better understand how different students learn and how I can effectively support them and help them improve.

I'm dedicated to being a reliable tutor by being prepared for sessions, staying organized, and having consistent communication so we're both on the same page. I enjoy teaching and am committed to creating a non-judgmental, encouraging environment where students can find confidence and success, both in and beyond the classroom.

About the lesson

I'm a Mechanical Engineering student with a strong background in Chemistry, Math, and engineering-related STEM subjects. I've taken advanced STEM classes throughout high school and college, including General College Chemistry, Multi-variable Calculus, and other STEM coursework. I can tutor most high school and introductory college chemistry courses.

I am a strong believer in just trying and making mistakes, learning through experience what works and what doesn't. My goal is to ensure students are learning what they need to, in the way that works best for them, while also boosting their confidence and showing them that they can do hard things.

I really enjoy helping other students and my siblings understand challenging concepts, and I absolutely love watching a topic "click." I work to understand how the student's teacher teaches a concept so that I can help the student learn the way they're expected to and do well in the class. I walk through examples and actual homework problems with the student and help them understand the reasoning and steps that lead to the answer, rather than just telling them the right answer. I believe that this is a recipe for long-term success, both in school and in life.
