About David

I am David Dale, a data scientist from Moscow, Russia.

I teach applied mathematics (calculus, linear algebra, probability & statistics, methods of optimization, discrete mathematics).

I also teach Python programming, machine learning and natural language processing.

I have worked in industry and science as:

- an analyst at Alfa Bank (credit scoring)

- a data scientist at Yandex Data Factory (ML consulting)

- a developer in Yandex Alice (NLU for a voice assistant)

- research engineer at Skoltech University (text style transfer and other NLP problems)

I have many years of teaching experience:

- Preparing school and university students to exams in maths since 2008

- Teaching probability and game theory in my university (Higher School of Economics) since 2012

- Developing and teaching a course on Probability&Statistics for Data Science for (concealed information) since 2018

- Developing courses on applied maths and data science

When I was a bachelor student, I often helped my fellow students with diffifult subjects. Back in 2010 or 2011 I realized that I am good at it and started working as a tutor. Then at my final grade our Game Theory lecturer offered me to conduct seminars with him, so I started officialy teaching in my university.

I have Master's degree in Data Science, 6 years of working experience in the industry, and I have taught in my univercity since 2014.

About the lesson

I interview him/her and give a few sample problems to solve. Then, I give feedback and recommendations. If needed, I explain some theory and techniques behind these problems. By that time the student is usually a little bit overwhelmed, so we schedule the next session and set up the home assignment.

I have worked with high school students, college students, and adult professionals, both in academia and in industry. I love to work with all of them, as long as the student is motivated.

Do not be afraid to try multiple teachers and to be picky.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
First of all, think about your desired outcomes, because this is you who is responsible for it. The teacher can only guide you, but cannot choose your goals for you. Another important question is your time budget, both in terms of hours per week and the total span of time in which you want to accompish your learning goals.
