My passion for chess began at the age of 8, when my father taught me to play. Even though he beat me every single game, I was immediately captivated by it. When I started middle school, he enrolled me in my local club, and a few months later I was playing my first tournament.

I knew my level was still weak. My only goal was not to finish last… In the end, that's exactly what happened — I scored 1.5 points out of 5.

A year later, I returned to the same tournament with more knowledge, more experience, and more confidence. This time, I won it with a perfect score of 5 out of 5!

That first success fuelled my drive to improve. For many years, I studied chess in a largely self-taught way, constantly seeking out stronger opponents and deepening my understanding of the game.

At 24, I earned the FIDE Master title after crossing 2300 Elo. At 25, after completing my three International Master norms between 2003 and 2005, I broke the 2400 Elo mark, becoming an International Master.

I have run numerous simultaneous exhibitions and taken part in various events aimed at introducing chess to the general public.

With 34 years of experience across different clubs, I know club life very well and currently serve as vice-president of my chess club.

Since 2014, I have also supported children and teenagers through academic tutoring, an experience that complements my work as a coach.

Holding a degree in psychology, I pay particular attention to the mental dimensions of chess: concentration, self-confidence, stress management, and decision-making.

More than twenty years after I started teaching, my passion for chess — and the joy of passing it on — remain undimmed.

Every player is different.

Some are discovering chess, others want to break through a plateau, gain Elo points, or prepare for a competition.

My work begins with an essential step: understanding your game.

I analyse how you think, how you select candidate moves, how you calculate, manage your time, and make decisions. I also identify your strengths, your difficulties, and the goals you want to achieve.

Based on this analysis, we build a training programme that truly fits you.

◆ Why do some players plateau?

There have never been so many resources available for improving: videos, playing platforms, tactics trainers, databases, analysis engines…

And yet, having access to more information doesn't always mean improving more.

Watching videos can be instructive, but it often remains a passive activity: understanding an explanation is very different from being able to find the right idea yourself at the board.

Many players favour fast time controls, whereas taking more time to think during games is often essential for improvement.

After the game, they check their accuracy score, scroll through the engine's suggested lines, and spot their mistakes… without always understanding why they made them.

An engine can show you the best move, but it doesn't teach you how to find it yourself.

That's the whole difference between knowing the answer and learning to think.

To improve in a lasting way, you need to go beyond simply noting the mistake: you need to understand why it happened and what needs to change in the way you think.

That is exactly where personalised coaching makes all the difference.

◆ A method built around your game

The first sessions are mainly devoted to analysing your games.

I don't just look for the moves that could have been better. I try to understand what led you to play them.

What did you see in the position? What did you consider? What did you rule out?

This analysis helps identify recurring patterns in your game and set clear priorities.

We then build your training programme based on your level, your goals, and the time you can devote to chess.

Depending on your needs, we will work on:

● Openings and game plans
● Tactics and calculation methods
● Strategy and positional understanding
● Essential endgames
● In-depth analysis of your games
● Competition preparation
● Time management, self-confidence, and mental preparation

I always favour understanding over rote learning.

My goal isn't simply to show you what should have been played, but to pass on the methods that will progressively enable you to find the right ideas on your own.

I work with beginners looking to build solid foundations as well as club players, competitors, and online players of all levels.

◆ Concrete results

Here are some recent results achieved by my students:

➤ 800 → 1600 Elo on Chess.com after a year and a half of lessons, for an adult player.

➤ 1650 → 2000 FIDE Elo after about fifteen hours of lessons, for a 16-year-old student.

➤ First FIDE Elo above 1950 after a year of work, for a previously unrated student.

➤ 1600 → 2000 FIDE Elo in two years for a young player who became Paris Champion in his category.

➤ 1600 → 2380 Elo on Chess.com in 15-minute games after a year of lessons at a rate of 3 hours per week, for an adult player.

These results naturally depend on each student's starting level, consistency, and commitment.

Over 200 students have shared their experience through reviews on SuperProf.

Their testimonials will give you a sense of the progress made and the atmosphere in which the sessions take place.

◆ Lessons for children

My approach is adapted to their age, level, and ability to concentrate.

The enjoyment of playing and the desire to learn remain essential. Through exercises and instructive games, they progressively learn to think more clearly, anticipate, and make their own decisions at the board.

◆ Video-conference lessons

Video conferencing is particularly well suited to chess teaching.

Thanks to screen sharing, we can analyse your games, study positions together, work on your openings, compare different ideas, and do exercises in real time.

After each session, I send you the materials used so you can review the concepts studied and keep working between lessons.

◆ Your chess project

Send me a message with a brief introduction to your level, your experience, and your goals.

I usually reply quickly, and we can then talk by phone before arranging your first lesson.

Getting in touch is already the first step towards your progress.
