Evan is patient and encouraging. He helped me work through a difficult (for me) bowing section and he added places to improve at different steps that kept me on track. For example, last lesson I had told him after 20s that I was just going to do separate bows. He told me he thought I could get it (I don’t like being bad at anything), and then we did just the pattern. He highlighted bow usage and we started with breaks between the up and down bow. Then we took out the break. Then we emphasized the first note of the measure. In 20 minutes I had a new skill not quite mastered but definitely doable :-)

I just started working with Evan and in just a short period of time he has already improved my playing ability. Yes, already! On a violin! Evan is quite advanced and was able to quickly evaluate my playing to focus on what would make the most impact. I've walked away with multiple learnings from each lesson. HIs teaching is clear, he makes sure the content is understood and he demonstrates the goal (some teachers do not). I'm very impressed already but even more I'm excited to think about what his tutoring will mean for me in 6 months or a year from now. Evan is such a patient, dedicated teacher. His care for each student really comes through in every lesson. He meets students where they are, and nurture everyones love for violin! His teaching is fast and efficient...he corrected my bow hold within seconds! If you're looking for a flexible, experienced violinist for an affordable rate, I think he's the perfect teacher.

Evan is passionate about the violin and his passion can be felt not only in the way he plays, but also in the way he shares his expertise with the instrument.
