About Monêt

I am a university student at Swansea University studying an Integrated Masters in Osteopathy (MOst) who has many passions. Spanish has been a major part of my life and I have loved developing my understanding of the language and exploring my love of the culture. In the past 3 years, I have loved passing this appreciation for the language onto my students and helping them achieve their language learning goals. I am a rugby player who has played at club, county and Centre of Excellence levels and have every intention to play at a Premiership level and also represent the Red Roses. I have spent the longest amount of time being a mentor in a variety of different capacities and helping young people make educated decisions for themselves. I have helped teenagers navigate the education system, make plans for their own future and help them seek to improve themselves as an individual. I have a passion for helping people and this has played a massive part in my goals for myself and would make me a great mentor to you as well. I look forward to finding out how I can help you in your journey.

About the lesson

Dedicated, patient, hardworking. Throughout my years of tutoring people from 11 years old to just over 60, I have found myself described to be an honest and passionate mentor who always goes above and beyond for her students. I have just over 3 years of experience in tutoring and mentoring to help people improve both themselves and their skills in a variety of different settings: formal, informal, in person and online. I have also done volunteering in school to lead and participate in tutoring schemes to help disadvantaged and underperforming students improve their academic abilities, musical abilities and self-confidence. I am a Spanish tutor who is invested in helping you achieve your linguistic goals in the way most suited to you. Whether your goals are to achieve a certain grade in GCSEs or A Levels, attain a basic understanding of the language for travelling or beginning your journey of linguistic appreciation and application, I would love to play a part in helping you achieve your goals. The majority of my experience in GCSE and A Level is with the AQA grading board, however, I have also tutored students doing GCSE Edexcel Spanish. Regardless of my experience, I am committed to understand exactly how to help you succeed in whatever grading board you are using, so please make me aware of this so I can prepare myself to teach you how to get the grades you desire, specific to how you are assessed. I am a rugby player who has played at club, county and Centre of Excellence level. With regards to the mentorship I offer, I help aspiring rugby players understand the rules of the game better and improve their sporting abilities and skills. I seek to also help create goals that encourage development throughout all the levels available and help my mentees to identify what their aspirations are with rugby. Whether you play Sunday league or aspire to represent your country in your national team, I will encourage you to ask the correct questions for you in your journey and help you earn your coaches’ favour so they can also see how dedicated you are. I pride myself on my integrity as a person and will consistently go to great lengths to adapt my teaching style to your needs. I complete reviews throughout my teaching process to allow you to communicate what you feel is working best for you and give us the opportunity to review any progress made and create a new goal moving forwards. I am prepared to invest time and effort in helping you achieve your goals and to also provide guidance on effective goal setting and what that can look like for you. I also incorporate a variety of methods to facilitate easier learning, such as games, flashcards, pairing cards, other learning platforms like Seneca and many more that can be used both in and out of our lessons. Most of my lessons take place over online platforms to help you achieve your goals no matter where you live but depending on where you are based, we may also be able to organise in person lessons. I always prioritise my students have a place where they can work best for them, so discussions on how best to optimise your studying space can also be had. The mentoring I have offered has always been focused around how people can create an idea of their ideal self and bridge the gap between where they are now and where they want to be. I help by guiding my mentee on how to research their interests and potential careers and even teach strategies of how to identify the best option for them. I have assisted in creating university shortlists based on courses and creating 1, 3 and 5 year plans. I am extremely effective at helping people make educated decisions for themselves and showing how strategies such as outlining positives and negatives in a ‘pros and cons list’ can be insightful and help create an even smaller shortlist. I also help my mentees to explore methods to optimise their productivity and efficiency by using YouTube, Spotify and a variety of other methods to use other people’s research to try different strategies. In my experience, my guidance is usually on places to get information on methods of studying and how to research what type of learner you are. I also offer services to help young people decide their next steps, whether that be university, a degree apprenticeship, the world of work or pursuing a career in another route. Throughout my time working and volunteering as a mentor in secondary schools, I have learnt invaluable skills on how to try and decide what route to pursue academically. My main area of expertise within this is in helping people create shortlists and prepare for interviews.
