About Sophia
I am currently pursuing a PhD at NYU Tandon In Civil Engineering, specializing Geotechnical Engineering and minoring Mechanical Engineering. I have been a STEM educator for over ten years and held several employments including teaching assistant, curricula developer and lead instructor for a middle school summer program, and adjunct professor at CUNY. Prior to returning to school I was employed by a leading geotechnical engineering design and inspection firm for four years. My academic background is strong, especially in the maths and sciences. I have experience tutoring all grades both individually and in a group setting.

Initially I tell students about my academic journey, which includes describing the role of an engineer. Next students introduce their strengths and weaknesses, including the goals he or she has for our work together. We will begin our first session by reviewing current school content, unless the student has a plan for specific topics or questions to review.
I have worked with first grade students, undergraduate students, and all student in between.
