About Marc

I graduated from the renowned drama school Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in 2022, with a BA (Hons) Acting. I now work full-time as a Narrative Designer in the video game industry, and freelance as a script consultant/doctor. I was awarded the John Gielgud Trust Award during my time at drama school, and I have a Diploma of Speech & Drama certified by Trinity College London. I worked as a Drama teacher's aid during my teenage years. I am currently working on a novel in the New Weird genre. I enjoy sprawling, alien worlds, but real, grounded characters and relationships. I have a sensitive approach to writing, and believe that ability and skill come second to passion and drive. I want each of my students to know that there are no mistakes in writing, only falling upwards.

About the lesson

Creative Writing classes often operate at odds with the aspiring writer—they are rigidly structured, impersonal, and can focus too much on the 'correcting' of writing. To many, this approach can deflate a writer's confidence, evoking the inner critic, and severing the art of writing from what should be at its centre: creativity. A writer's relationship with their work is personal, and generalised teaching can fail to nourish their passion for the craft. Understanding this, my lessons are tailored to the individual. I work with my students to construct a plan towards their writing goals, focusing on what drives them to write, and their desires to improve. No lesson of mine is the same. My lessons are one to two hours long. My first lesson with a student is completely free, and will be an open discussion about approaches to writing, and what the student wants out of lessons with me. I teach those between the ages of 12 to 17, and of all skill levels.

Lessons with Marc are great! They always feel personal, and he always feels invested in you as writer. Marc has a great way of pushing you without pushing you, asking you a lot about your work, and what you think about it. I never felt anxious or unprepared in Marc's classes, he is an incredibly flexible tutor.
