Seeing people with 9s in other sections score a 6.5 or a 7 in the writing section can be pretty unnerving. Though I can put words on paper somewhat confidently , the writing section is why I decided to seek Aparajita’s help and it definitely worked out for the best. This is where she was able to guide me through her methods and evaluations. I chose to attend lessons for the Speaking section as well. While this section may be fairly subjective, Aparajita's pointers and advice gave me some much needed perspective before the exam.

I found the wonderful personalized sessions to be an overall better option than hunting for the apt resources, relying on just about any books or other sources and then preparing. Aparajita’s techniques and teaching expertise made it possible to start the actual learning process right from the get-go. Those 8s were achieved in a short time only because the classes were structured to fill the gaps that she had skillfully identified. What motivates you to teach & why?
My students are my motivators! I absolutely love watching them improve their language skills. Since each student is unique, I enjoy the process of rapport building as well.
Teaching is extremely fulfilling and I have a constant two-way feedback system to motivate me and help me reflect.
When did you start developing an interest in your subject area?
I experimented with teaching speech and drama at a Trinity-recognised institute at 17 and fell in love with it. I rose through the ranks from assistant teacher to Head Instructor of Speech quickly, finally ‘retiring’ in 2017. Alongside this, I began to tutor students in the works of Shakespeare. The experience was not only fulfilling, but also led me to discover my love for teaching.
At the same time, the daunting task of choosing a college major was upon me. My choice, suddenly, was very simple: English was what I loved. Today, as a post-graduate in English, my love for the language has only grown.
The blooming fondness for English and fortuitous teaching experience culminated in the desire to move to the next step: a way to unify them and allow me a platform to explore this further. And what better way to do that than CELTA? Once I began the course, there was no looking back for me – there began my journey. My love for teaching was born here.
If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?
My English teacher at school. She was supportive, kind, and always ready to lend a helping hand. I've seen her gently assist weaker learners while maintaining the pace of the class for strong learners. That is something I am trying very hard to learn!
What is the biggest obstacle you had to overcome in mastering your craft?
The biggest obstacle would have to be time management! After teaching from diverse backgrounds and nationalities, as well as different levels, I have realised that each student has their own pace of learning. I now adapt according to the student.
In your opinion, what makes someone excel in your subject area?
Experience! Not just teaching students but also with the practical application of the subject as well. For example, I prepare students to take the IELTS, so I have taken the exam myself to understand the nuances of it better.
What would you say to a student who says, "This is too difficult, I give up!"?
I would point out how far they've already come and explain it better! After all, it's on the teacher to simplify and makes things accessible.
How does someone become a Super Prof?
By getting to know their students. Each learner has a unique learning style. It is imperative that the teacher accommodates that learning style and designs lessons accordingly.
