About Azmat

Over the last two years I've tutored, mentored and helped many people, in maths, physics and other areas. Many of my tutees have reported much better understanding of content as well as improved grades and I've helped my brothers in y11, with maths and their ability has improved significantly. A Levels are not easy, and frequently I helped others and others helped me with problems. This common exposure to explaining problems has improved my ability to help others markedly. Aside from this, I've tutored Microsoft Excel recently; volunteered at a library to help the elderly use computers and volunteered at a local primary school to mentor a year 6 child in mathematics. These experiences have proved invaluable to me.

I'm Azmat, a first year student at Imperial College London studying maths.

Having achieved 4 A*s at A Level - Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Russian - my specialism is maths and physics but I am available to tutor a whole range of subjects, as seen below.

I consider maths my strength. At its core it's very logic-based, and my approach to both teaching and understanding maths is simple: understand what you're doing. Learning methods by rote and applying them to the same problem again and again does not help us learn; it may help us pass tests, if the questions are always the same, but there will be difficulties when new problems come up. By getting to understand the problem and teaching how best to deal with it, students are much better able to deal with difficult problems.

Physics doesn't come naturally to me. I had to spend a lot of time going over concepts thoroughly before ideas clicked; in a lot of cases teaching myself more than needed to for the course. I believe this experience of mine will aid greatly in tutoring others; knowing which topics students find difficult (having been through the same thing) and how to approach them in different ways to improve understanding.

Over the last two years I've mentored and helped many people, in maths, physics and other areas. I've been helping my brothers, entering y11 this year, with maths and their ability has improved significantly.

I'm a fitness enthusiast, competing nationally in powerlifting and frequently involving myself in football amongst other sports. I recently achieved a distinction in grade 7 classical guitar and am pursuing my grade 8. I also play piano and enjoy reading both fiction and non-fiction.
