About Toby

Academically, I achieved 5 A* grades at A-Level in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Computer Science, Chemistry, and Biology, and I am studying Maths and Computer Science at Imperial College London. This strong foundation across multiple subjects allows me to teach with depth and versatility, supporting students across a wide range of areas.

I am very ambitious, having engaged in extra opportunities such as the Biology Olympiad, achieving gold. I will never settle for anything but my best and will always attempt to unlock and achieve my full potential. But this ambition is infectious, and I thoroughly enjoy helping others unlock their potential too and give them the confidence and ability to not only strive for but achieve their best.

About the lesson

I am a passionate, patient, and highly dedicated GCSE and A-Level tutor who takes pride in helping students unlock their full potential. My teaching style is centred around listening carefully to each student’s individual needs, identifying their strengths and weaknesses, and tailoring lessons specifically to them. I strive to keep sessions engaging, interactive, and enjoyable, while ensuring that every student feels supported and motivated throughout their learning journey.

I focus not only on building knowledge and exam technique, but also on developing confidence and reinforcing understanding. Each lesson is designed to consolidate prior learning while introducing new concepts in a clear, structured way, so students never feel overwhelmed. By breaking complex ideas down into manageable steps and using real-world examples, I make even the most challenging topics more approachable and memorable.

With over 300 hours of tutoring experience, primarily during my gap year, I have worked with students of varying abilities and backgrounds, helping many of them secure top grades at both GCSE and A-Level. Several of my students have gone on to achieve the results they needed to progress to their chosen Sixth Form or University, which is always incredibly rewarding.

I am committed to creating a positive, encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and building their confidence over time. My aim is not just to help students succeed in exams, but to inspire a genuine understanding and appreciation of the subjects they study.
