About Marwa
In 2018, I graduated from Imperial College London with an MEng in civil engineering. I currently work as a structural design engineer and a tutor simultaneously. I enjoy demonstrating to my tutees that maths and science is not a steep mountain but rather a fun way of understanding the way the world around us functions. Nobody was born a genius and through my teaching techniques, all my tutees improve massively.
I have a strong academic history. At GCSEs, I achieved 10A*s and 1A across all my subjects. At A-level, I achieved an A*A*A in maths, further maths and physics and AA in AS-level chemistry and use of maths. I then attended Imperial College London, which is consistently ranked in the top 10 universities worldwide where I studied civil engineering. I obtained these grades by buying books and almost teaching myself the entirety of my courses. Here I developed methods that really helped me climb the grade ladder and achieve the top grades, which I now pass on to my tutees.
I have taught maths, further maths and science at GCSE and A-level for over five years. I also provide tuition for civil engineering up to MEng level. I have also worked as a teaching assistant for a year where I helped the class teacher with students that required more assistance to stay at the same level as the class. This was in maths and chemistry. My method of teaching usually consists of explaining fundamental rules and applying them to real life so it sticks with my tutee. I then walk my tutee through examples that are really broken down and work with them on more questions of the same topic. Finally, I provide homework where my tutee is required to answer the questions alone in order to really test their knowledge and learning. I mark all homework outside of class and discuss results and corrections at the start of the next lesson. Even though I have a teaching technique, I always assess the situation on a student to student basis as all pupils learn in different ways. I always add in steps or different elements to my approach to make sure the student really understands the topic I am teaching. My teaching method is always tailored depending on my student. This approach has proven to be very effective and all of my students succeeded in obtaining their target grades where some even achieved higher as well as get into schools and universities of their choice.
