Hi, I'm Shez, a 27-year-old data analyst with a strong foundation in finance, currently channeling my passion for teaching into something more personal and impactful. After years in the professional realm, I've taken a step back to focus on volunteering and tutoring, driven by the belief that education is a powerful tool for shaping futures.
With a history of tutoring gifted youngsters at 17 and a knack for breaking down complex topics into understandable segments, I bring a unique approach to teaching maths. Navigating my own educational journey with ADHD, I discovered early on that success in learning isn't one-size-fits-all. It's about crafting a personalized, dynamic approach that resonates with each unique student. This philosophy is at the heart of my tutoring method. I'm dedicated to developing a tailored framework for each student I have the privilege of guiding, beginning with a deep dive into their work habits, interests, and academic challenges. Understanding you as a whole person—beyond just academics—is crucial for creating a sustainable and supportive learning environment.
As a volunteer tutor at ActionTutoring, I've enriched the academic lives of children aged 10-12 for the past 6 months, fostering growth and curiosity. Additionally, my role in Imperial College's 'Parent' program allowed me to mentor new university students, aiding in their academic pursuits and adjustment to the new and often overwhelming university lifestyle.
I am open to working with students of all ages, focusing on those who are as committed to their growth as I am to their education. This commitment includes engaging with the homework I assign and maintaining a positive attitude toward learning. My goal is to not only improve academic performance but also to instill a love for learning and a framework for success that extends beyond the classroom.
