About Maria

Hello! My name is Maria, and I am 20 years old. I am a native Arabic speaker, originally from Algeria, and an immunology graduate from the University of Manchester. Currently, I am pursuing a research master's degree in cancer sciences at the University of Birmingham. I am a flexible tutor, and my teaching plan depends on the individual needs of my students.

I have a preference for teaching kids and teenagers, as that has always been the age range of my students. Despite my scientific background, I have excelled in Arabic classes and accumulated nearly 5 years of teaching experience. In the field of biology, I can cover anything from basics to specific biological mechanisms, with a focus on the immune system.

For younger students, I take a gradual approach, ensuring a strong understanding of the basics before moving on to more complex topics. I incorporate 5-10 minute breaks between sessions, recognizing our limited spans of focus, especially since I am a student myself.

At the end of each session, I assign homework, which we review in the next session to ensure a thorough understanding before progressing to new material. However, this is optional and dependent on the student's preference. With kids, I also employ games as a teaching method, as I've observed that they learn effectively through play.

If the students have specific requirements or learning outcomes, we can discuss them in our first meeting. Looking forward to our potential collaboration!

About the lesson

My approach to teaching depends on my students' needs and learning objectives.
The age range of my students varies from kids to teenagers.

Lessons usually start with an insightful introduction to the basics of the aspect to be taught. Once I ensure the student grasps the main idea, I delve into details and more complex aspects.
I value the feedback of my students and focus on fulfilling their goals, thus I am flexible with any changes to study plans.
Also, if the student finds that a specific study strategy suits them, they can let me know, and I will definitely implement it.
I also prefer to assign little homework to the students so they can assess their understanding, and then we can review them in the following session.
I only cover human biology; I cannot teach plant biology or zoology
