About Jonathan
My name is Jonathan Flaum, I am 19 years old from Jeffrey’s Bay South Africa. I finished matric in 2022 in Johannesburg and an IEB institution. I have always had a passion for English and History and have always loved being able to share that passion with others around me. Teaching has always been a big possibility for me because I understand the need there is in the field for teachers who are willing to take new creative approaches in learning and can cater to a whole classroom and not just those who have the learning style of reading and writing. I do not have a degree as of yet but next year I am going To study in Stellenbosch. I am very confident and well equipped in the high school English and History syllabus. I believe that being a good educator doesn’t include how strict or stern you are but is based off your EQ in understanding the child’s best needs and being able to give that to them. As someone who struggled with taking in information in school due to ADHD and having unique learning styles , I understand that it can be very hard to not only process information but to then practice it in our everyday lives and in tests/exams, Because of this I am determined to help kids learn and study these subjects based on their learning styles and in a more creative approach that will guarantee an improvement in the area they are struggling in. I specify in English and History for high school students from around grade 6 to grade 12. I know how to work with those who have learning disabilities like dyslexia or ADHD.
