About Cora

I am a Culinary Arts student at The Culinary Institute of America. Besides cooking (and eating), French has been a passion of mine since I was about 15 years old. I received one-on-one tutoring myself two summers in a row, along with studying in high school. I love the French language so much that I doubled up on my classes Senior year in order to graduate early so that I could continue to study abroad in France, where I've completed a combined total of 4 months of immersive French classes at Alliance Francaise (Toulouse location). I am in a long-term relationship with a Frenchman, with whom I speak French every single day. I currently live in Hyde Park while I'm at school, but I have lived in the South of France for a combined total of about 8 months, including working in a French kitchen for 3 and a half months as part of my Culinary Arts education.

About the lesson

When it comes to language learning, immersion is the absolute #1 way to master a language. To the highest extent possible, I would teach the lesson strictly in French (exception for beginners), and get the student as comfortable with the French accent as possible. I also believe repetition and memorization to be key when it comes to verb conjugation. I do understand that each student has a different learning style, so I try to read this (unless the student can simply identify their style for me), and adjust my approach accordingly.
