About Bertina
Hello everyone! My name is Bertina, and I am currently a fourth-year undergraduate student majoring in food science at the University of Guelph in Canada. I am a Canadian-Chinese who grew up speaking Cantonese with my parents. Additionally, I have learned French in school and love engaging in language exchange. I have extensive experience teaching others through platforms like Tandem, HelloTalk, and InterPals. I enjoy playing the trombone, singing, dancing, and baking. I am about to begin my professional journey in teaching English after receiving my TEFL certificate, and I can relate to learners because I am passionate about learning and developing my skills. My proficiency in English is at a native level, and I frequently work with international students. I am a food science student with over 40 hours of experience in food chemistry laboratories. I have written more than 20 laboratory reports and am enrolled in Canada's top food science program at the University of Guelph. My coursework is appropriate for the college level, focusing on physical chemistry, biochemistry, and thermodynamics. Through my studies, I have gained practical experience in the food industry, working as a shelf life assistant at the Guelph Food Innovation Centre and as a research and development food scientist intern at Yum! Brands.
