About Talia

Hello! My name is Talia, and I am a senior at Northeastern University studying Political Science and History. I am planning to go to law school after graduating, and I am deeply passionate about education and youth empowerment. I am from Denver, Colorado and enjoy travelling and reading. I began working as a tutor in high school and have worked with students in elementary, middle, and high school both in-person and in a virtual format. I love being able to share my love of learning through my work as a tutor!

About the lesson

My tutoring method is based primarily on compassion and adaptability. Each of my students has different needs, and I work to develop custom plan for sessions that fit their unique learning styles.

Since students seeking tutoring often need help with assignments already provided in school, I begin by working with them on their homework and can provide supplementary work if necessary. Through working on such assignments, I can identify areas of strength and areas where a student is consistently facing obstacles. This allows me to instill confidence while also working on growth in areas needing improvement.

As an undergraduate student, I can relate to the stressors and struggles of my students as I went through it all myself not long ago. I view my sessions as opportunities to not only help my students improve in a given subject, but to cultivate skills that will help them with ongoing academic success such as organization, communication with teachers and peers, and self-confidence.

Below are all humanities subjects for which I provide tutoring:
- Civics/Government (middle school through AP Gov)
- History (middle school through AP US History & AP European History)
- English (all levels, reading and writing)
- Essay writing (all levels, school assignments & college applications)
