About Cody

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Music and have been teaching guitar for 6 years, working with both kids and adults across all levels. My teaching philosophy is rooted in making the guitar approachable, rewarding, and personal. I adapt each session to fit how a student learns best, from visual to hands-on methods. Beyond teaching, I’ve performed in local bands, recorded original music, and collaborated on songwriting projects. These real-world experiences help me bring practical skills into lessons. I emphasize musicality, not just technique, so students understand not only how to play but also how to listen and feel music deeply. I constantly explore new tools, methods, and genres to stay engaged and offer fresh material. Whether you're looking to play around the campfire or perform onstage, my mission is to help you find your voice through the guitar. About the lesson

Guitar lessons begin with a strong focus on fundamentals, perfect for beginners or those returning after a break. We work on tuning, posture, simple chords, and basic strumming patterns while incorporating popular songs to keep learning fun and relevant. My goal is to build your comfort with the instrument and nurture musical confidence early on.

As students grow in skill, we move into topics like barre chords, fingerpicking, and rhythm variation. I introduce improvisation techniques, helping you explore creativity beyond sheet music. Song-based learning continues, focusing on various genres to develop versatility and a broader musical vocabulary. Technical drills are also introduced to strengthen finger agility and coordination.

Advanced sessions focus on developing your personal sound, mastering solos, and understanding music theory as it applies to the fretboard. Whether you're interested in songwriting, jazz improvisation, or preparing for live performance, we build a practice routine that aligns with your goals. Each lesson is paced to challenge and inspire you without pressure.
