About Leo

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Music with a concentration in Violin Performance, and I’ve been teaching for over 6 years. My journey with the violin began at a young age, evolving into formal education and countless hours of performing and collaborating with orchestras and chamber ensembles. Teaching allows me to share that journey with each student in a way that’s meaningful and rewarding. Over the years, I’ve worked with students of various ages—from young children to adults—tailoring my teaching to fit individual needs, learning speeds, and musical interests. Whether students are pursuing exams, aiming for auditions, or learning for personal enjoyment, I offer structured guidance that makes complex concepts approachable and enjoyable. I strive to create a learning space that’s both disciplined and inspiring. I believe in building confidence through encouragement, setting clear goals, and celebrating every milestone. Music is more than just technique—it's about connecting to sound, and I guide each student in finding their voice through the violin.

About the lesson

Each lesson begins with a personalised approach to meet the student where they are—whether you're holding the violin for the first time or returning after a break. For beginners, I focus on foundational posture, holding the bow correctly, and developing good tone from the start. Scales, simple melodies, and ear training are integrated to build a solid base for more advanced learning. As students progress, we explore more intricate techniques such as vibrato, shifting positions, and interpreting musical phrasing. Lessons include tailored practice routines, guided listening, and studies from various composers to develop expressive playing. Emphasis is placed on reading sheet music fluently and maintaining a relaxed, natural technique for long-term growth. Advanced sessions emphasise musicality, ensemble skills, and performance confidence. We work through classical repertoire, advanced études, and concert preparation. I also support students preparing for exams, auditions, or orchestral opportunities. Every session blends structure with creativity, allowing students to develop both technical skills and their own musical identity.
