About Qiwei

I am an Economics and Finance graduate from the University of Hong Kong, with a strong academic background in the International Baccalaureate (IB) system, where I achieved a score of 39 points. Having personally experienced the IB journey, I understand the challenges students face when balancing coursework, examinations, and the pressure to achieve their academic goals.

My academic background includes Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, and Psychology, which allows me to approach learning from both analytical and student-centered perspectives. Throughout my studies, I have enjoyed helping classmates and peers understand difficult concepts by explaining ideas in clear and intuitive ways.

As a tutor, I believe that effective learning comes from building strong foundations, developing confidence, and finding the right learning methods for each student. About the lesson

My teaching approach focuses on helping students truly understand concepts rather than simply memorizing formulas or techniques. Having completed the IB Diploma with a score of 39 points and studied Economics & Finance at the University of Hong Kong, I understand the challenges IB students face and know how to break down complex ideas into clear and manageable steps.

My lessons are personalized according to each student's learning style, current level, and academic goals. I usually begin by identifying the student's strengths, weaknesses, and areas of confusion. During lessons, I combine concept explanation, real-world examples, guided practice, and exam-focused strategies to help students develop both understanding and confidence. For IB subjects, I emphasize not only knowing the content but also learning how to structure answers, apply knowledge to unfamiliar questions, and meet IB assessment criteria.

A typical lesson may include:

Reviewing previous materials and addressing questions or difficulties

Explaining key concepts using simple examples and visual frameworks

Practicing exam-style questions together and developing problem-solving strategies
