About Steffen

My name is Steffen,

I am a tapestry of diverse professional practices, interwoven with the threads of commercial real estate, cosmetology, hardwood floor refinishing, artwork, barista skills, tutoring, and more. Each chapter of my journey has added vibrant hues and intricate patterns to the course of my life. No matter what you do or are interested in, everything has a history to be appreciated, valued and continued. Unfortunately, we can only pick and choose to an extent. For myself, tutoring has a higher importance than other avenues. I hope to impart some knowledge, wisdom and shared growth as I continue.

I graduated from Ohio University in 2022 as a History major. During the second half of my education, I focused heavily on the study of golden age piracy and British merchant shipping in the Caribbean during the mid 18th and early 19th centuries. I was also a member of the Pi Alpha Theta Historical Honors Society, which required a high grade point average and a degree of mastery in areas of historical study. I am looking forward to becoming a licensed teacher upon completion of my coursework in the future.

History is a great passion of mine. It offers an overlooked skill in today's society; perspective. In a time where things are faster and more streamlined than yesterday, I believe history can provide feelings of fulfillment, understanding, and solace.

My teaching is most often done chronologically with exceptions to assistance with college research papers. A typical lesson plan would highlight key terms, events, and figures that correlate with complimentary past and future lessons. Compounding knowledge will allow students to make easy connections and discover significance in historical scenarios. Effective storytelling is a key component of historical study, and promotes a higher degree of retaining knowledge.

My lessons are geared towards high school history primarily. I have experience with college level research as well. All students can expect to have a degree of my own completed material provided to them.

I have completed lesson plans on U.S. History and the History of East Asia. Other areas of study I've participated in include:

-Western Civilization to 1500 CE
-World History before 1750 CE
-History of Oil and World Power
