About Varanya

Hi I am Varanya and I’m currently a law student at the University of Manchester!

After GCSEs, where I achieved all A-A* grades, I began my A-Level journey and immediately found myself drawn to history. Over two years, I curated fool-proof revision methods, exam techniques and essay structures which allowed me to excel and cultivate a great passion for history. Now, I want to help other students reach their full potential and achieve the best grades they can in this subject.

Previously, during my time in sixth-form, I managed to do this when acting as a history prefect. I led weekly discussions with KS3 students mentoring younger students on how to approach essay writing and exam preparation. More recently, I have helped students in an A-Level history masterclass, where I carried out a Zoom session with a colleague, with over 20 students joining, going over essay structure technique, critical analysis skills and revision methods to ensure an A/A* grade A-Level History.

In my free-time I am an avid lover of dance and music, with a passion for reading anywhere and everywhere. I hope that I can help you achieve the best grade you can achieve in History!

About the lesson

My first lesson is free to get to know the student, but more importantly to identify the student's specific needs and the teaching style that works best for them !

Typically in these sessions I will cover:
- In-depth analysis and collaborative writing of model essays
- Key features of an A* answer
- Marking, reviewing, and providing
feedback on exam papers and essays
- Extensive content reviews
- In-depth guidance on creating personalised study resources

Overall I take a more positive approach to learning, focusing on areas where the student has done well and areas they could improve.

I would not have been able to do so without the endless hours and selfless dedication she put in. History is a tough subject and really made me feel dumb at times, but Varanya’s empathy and patience helped me gain confidence and end up really enjoyed the subject!
