About Robert
I am a history nerd. I have been so my entire life. But also, I love stories and over the years have become a good story-teller. As a kid, when I read history books I would play out the stories in my head like a comic book. As I grew older those stories morphed into TV shows and movies running through my mind.
Because I've already experienced these great stories, it's been easy for me to share my enthusiasm for history and all of the amazing things that have happened in the world to others. I've discovered that even those who have had trouble learning or understanding history in the past, find it much more engaging when its storified.
I've taken this skill and applied it to my time as a history consultant for television, documentaries, and movies.
In my freetime (when I get it) I enjoy playing videos games, watching sports, and spending time with my family.

I believe history and social studies provide a unique learning opportunity outside of some of the more hard sciences because so much of history is context. It's not just about remembering names and dates, but the stories and context that make those names and dates important.
I believe people learn history better when they can imagine the story in their head, like a movie or Netflix show playing out in their mind. This is how I teach and what sets me apart as a tutor. I believe in the strength of story-telling and imagination as tools to really learn and understand things.
Lesson plans will be created and tailored to the specific students needs. This depends on scope of topic, what specifically the student needs to learn, and how much time they have to learn about it.
A typical lesson plan would be broken down something likes this:
1) Introduction and Overview
2) Why This Topic Matters (Relevancy In Today's World)
3) The Story Pt 1
4) The Story Pt 2
5) Review - The Main Characters
6) Review - The Plot
7) Review - What it all means and how it impacted the world then and today
8) Q&A / Open Discussion
9) Prep Test & Review
