About Sarah

I am from Dunfermline in Scotland, I'm a mum of two and I have always had a passion for both history and learning. I was inspired to study history to degree level by my high school history teacher and I would love to show the same passion for the subject and perhaps inspire someone else to follow a career in history. The past can be inspiring and show us how things should be done but just as importantly it shows us the mistakes that society has made so we may never go down those paths again.

About the lesson

I love history, without looking to the past we can never learn the lessons needed to create a better tomorrow. I specialise in modern history, from 1900 onwards although I also spent a year studying American History. My courses at university covered topics such as the outbreak of WW1, the Russian Revolution, the Vietnam War, UK politics post WW2, the rise of Scottish nationalism and my final paper was an in depth look at the causes of the allied victory in WW2. I have also studied topics from before 1900 such as medieval European history, the industrial revolution and the Scottish wars of independence from 1286. I have done student teaching at various points throughout my career before deciding to work in nursery/preschool and pride myself in my patience and ability to explain complex issues clearly. I studied English for a year at university and have written a novel so my grammar, vocabulary and standard of both written and spoken English are extremely high.
