About Julia Jane

I currently teach A-level History of Art and Fine Art in sixth form colleges. Additionally, I am a Lecturer at Morley College, Waterloo, London. As an Arts Educator, I provide private tuition to many students. This successful venture grew out of having worked in education and training since 1990. It is now just over 10 years ago, that I decided to put my History of Art and Fine Art qualifications to good use and began to develop my Arts Education practice in 2010. I have never looked back!

About the lesson

Hello, I'm Julia Jane, an Arts Educator and Tutor and Mentor. I am a highly experienced, positive and encouraging tutor. I teach art, design and humanities. And I am an Art Historian and a Fine Artist. My teaching qualification is a Diploma in Adult Education & Training.

I tutor A-level, BA, MA and Post Graduate levels. I look forward to receiving your enquiries and answering any questions that you may have.

My specialism is Art & Design and History of Art. Includes: Academic writing. Portfolio preparation. Interview practice. Confidence building for project presentations.

Arts qualifications Masters Degree in Fine Art by research project (merit) Post Graduate Certificate in History of Art (2010) BA (2:1) History of Art. (2009) Teaching qualifications Diploma in Education and Training (2010) TEFL in teaching Young Learners (2008) RSA Certificate Teaching Adults (1990)
Where do you teach? In London art galleries or art libraries. I do travel to a student home, depending on the location. Ask me if you need me to travel to you.
When are you available? MONDAY - FRIDAY DAYTIME and EVENING.
On-line sessions are flexible. SATURDAY and SUNDAY I do tutor at weekends.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
My specialist age group is 16 plus, mature students and returners to education. However, I am a trained TEFL teacher to young learners and do tutor younger learners. My specialist level is MA and BA degree levels. Foundation, A-level, GCSE and BTEC level 2 and 3. Also, I teach vocational, lifestyle and adult learning for personal development. And career change professionals wanting to enter the arts.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for? I have thorough knowledge of and much experience preparing A-level History of Art students to sit the Edexcel syllabus. Art and Design GCSE, A-level for AQA and Edexcel boards. I currently provide a valuable tutoring, mentor and support to higher education students at BA, MA levels. I am currently mentoring one long term PhD student through her Fine Art Research at the Royal College of Art.
Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
For those students who love the immediate and flexible online method, I use a professional conferencing platform called GoToMeeting. This offers an enhanced learning experience — essays can be worked on together and I can record your tutorials for you to use as a recap and revision. I enjoy online tutoring, it is flexible and fun.
Do you have a personal message for students?
Yes I do. My personal message for you is that with the enthusiasm and dedication from the right tutor, you can do it. And do it better than you imagined possible. As a student, you may really value the opportunity to be mentored through tough times. A tutor offers new angles and approaches that can enrich your experience and improve results. And as a mature student myself, I understand the challenges that life flings, whilst remembering that learning really does change lives, brings confidence and makes a difference.
