About Conall

I'm Conall, a 1st class graduate from Peterhouse, Cambridge. I've been tutoring for several years, and I have had the pleasure of seeing my students receive their offers at Cambridge this year following a course of tutorials. I believe that confidence is key, and I have consistently found that a student's worst enemy truly is their own anxiety. This is why I believe it is so important to talk through exam practice and tricky content in-depth, taking students beyond the often rote-heavy approach of the classroom and helping them to properly understand how marks are awarded, arguments formed, and thus how to achieve the very best grades.

About the lesson

I have extensive experience tutoring the full range of GCSE and A-Level papers (particularly Germany in Transition, the Cold War, the Tudors, and all varieties of British history). I find that focusing on method is the most effective way to give students that all-important feeling of groundedness when faced with exam questions. To this end, I give special attention to the skills behind essay writing and source analysis. I firmly believe that reaching towards Oxbridge is only as imposing as its reputation. It is easy to be intimidated by the lore, and tales of extraordinarily high standards, but these are over-exaggerated. Approached methodically and calmly, the highest academic summits are well within range. From me, you can expect a calm guide to help demystify the scholarly practice that examiners and admissions tutors are looking for, as well as the nurturing of the necessary modes of thinking to impress any professor.
