About Ben

Hi! My name is Ben. I’m a native English speaker from the UK, 28 years old, and passionate about language, culture, and connection. I’ve spent the last 6+ years teaching English to students from all over the world — both online and in-person — in Guatemala and parts of Southeast Asia. My teaching style is relaxed, practical, and focused on helping you speak confidently and naturally in real-life situations. Whether you need Business English, IELTS preparation, conversation practice, or want to explore literature and writing, I bring energy, cultural understanding, and a love for language into every session. Having lived and worked abroad, I understand the challenges of learning a new language — and how powerful it can be. I'm here to make English fun, useful, and relevant to your goals.

I take a student-centred, practical approach to tutoring that focuses on real-world communication and confidence-building. Whether you're preparing for IELTS, improving your business English, or exploring literature and writing, I tailor each lesson to your individual goals, learning style, and level. Teaching Methodology: I use a combination of conversation practice, listening and reading exercises, vocabulary building, and structured grammar review. I incorporate authentic materials like articles, videos, and business case studies to make learning relevant and engaging. For IELTS prep, I focus on all four skills with test strategies and timed practice. Lesson Structure & Length: Lessons typically last 60 minutes, with a balance of interactive speaking, targeted language correction, and practical exercises. Homework and progress feedback are provided for continued growth between sessions. My Qualifications & Experience: I hold over 250 hours of advanced TEFL training and have over 6 years of teaching experience with both adults, teens and kids. I’ve worked with professionals, entrepreneurs, university students and exam candidates from around the world. Who My Lessons Are For: I teach intermediate to advanced learners including: Professionals needing Business English or workplace communication. Students preparing for IELTS or other exams. Adults who want to improve conversational fluency and learners interested in English literature, writing and critical thinking.
