About Paul
I have a law degree from Northumbria University, an MA International Studies from the School of Government and International Affairs at Durham University (2004) and a PhD in Political Philosophy/International Theory from the same department (2010). I'm also a recognised Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
I chose to focus my career on teaching undergrad and postgrad students because I have a passion for helping people succeed. I also have high standards when it comes to producing academic work, so please come to my tuition sessions prepared for a constructive, sometimes challenging dialogue designed to help you attain the highest levels you can.

My special expertise is bringing the best out of every student. This involves not only learning the subject matter, but taking a holistic view of the entire university experience, including the academic conventions involved in producing excellent work.
Success at both undergrad and postgrad levels is about achieving a good balance between knowledge and confidence, and I aim to instil both. I'll ask challenging questions and offer constructive, meaningful feedback.
I've taught online for The Open University, Queen Mary University of London and Plymouth University within the broad sphere of international relations.
Essentially, I know what works and I want to pass this on to you.
I can help you understand concepts and theories, how to structure assignments and even offer advice on how to progress in HE as a career.
