About Iona

Hi, I’m a DBS-enhanced tutor with over three years of experience teaching Maths and Economics. I’m currently in my final year studying Economics at the University of Bath, and I’ve always been someone who enjoys breaking down tricky ideas and helping others feel more confident in their learning. I want to teach because I know how big a difference the right support can make. I’ve worked with students of all abilities, and what motivates me most is seeing their confidence grow—whether that’s finally understanding a tough concept or improving their exam performance. I focus on being patient, clear and adaptable, and I always aim to create a space where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace. Professionalism matters to me, so I make sure my lessons are well-planned, engaging and tailored to each student’s needs. My goal is simple: to help you feel capable, prepared and proud of the progress you make.

About the lesson

I teach in a way that is friendly, supportive, and fully tailored to each student. My first step is always to understand how a student learns, what they find challenging, and what their goals are. From there, I create lessons that break topics down clearly, use real examples, and build confidence step by step. I like to keep sessions interactive, encouraging students to think aloud and ask questions so we can tackle any misunderstandings straight away. Most of my lessons are 60 minutes, though I also offer 90-minute sessions for students who want extra depth, especially around exam time. A typical class includes a quick warm-up, a focused explanation of the topic, guided practice, and a short recap at the end to make sure everything has clicked. I’m a DBS-enhanced tutor with over three years of experience teaching Maths and Economics from KS3 to A-Level across all major exam boards. I am currently in my final year studying BSc Economics at the University of Bath, where I’ve consistently achieved First Class grades. My lessons are ideal for KS3, GCSE and A-Level students of all abilities—whether you’re aiming for top grades, preparing for upcoming exams, or simply looking to feel more confident in your subjects.
