About Maria
I am a high school student, specifically a junior, at the Maritime and Science Technology Academy. I have tutored for about 6 months and I enjoy it. I like to spend time with kids and watch them grow intellectually. Last summer, I volunteered at the Museum of Science and Discovery. My role in the museum was to teach children about how science works in our daily life. This was what started to interest me in tutoring and I have loved it ever since.

I am an 11th grader at MAST Academy and I base my lessons on elementary/middle school level classes on the subjects of Spanish, Language Arts, and Mathematics. My techniques as an instructor are to always have a positive attitude, helping them being prepared, questioning/listening, and by having a strong relationship with the students. My approach is usually student-based meaning that students and teachers/tutors have an equally active role in the process of learning. My primary role is to facilitate what they are having trouble with, however, they take part in the process by solving the problem as a team.
