About Neil

As a high school senior with a strong academic background and leadership experience, I’m passionate about helping students succeed in math. Through roles like Kindness Club President, National Honor Society Treasurer, and Boy Scout Patrol Leader, I’ve developed effective communication and mentoring skills. With over 250 volunteer hours, including work at CAMP CAMP and mentoring younger Scouts, I’ve learned the importance of patience and creating a supportive environment. As an AP Scholar, I approach tutoring with clear explanations, structured lessons, and targeted practice to make math understandable and boost confidence. I’m here to help with Algebra, Trigonometry, and Precalculus, guiding students toward success with dedication and encouragement.

About the lesson

As a high school tutor, my teaching approach focuses on making math relatable and approachable for students. I understand that math can be challenging, so I use clear, step-by-step explanations and real-world examples to help students grasp complex concepts. My goal is to build a solid foundation of understanding, boost confidence, and make math less intimidating.

Teaching Method and Techniques:
I tailor my lessons to each student's unique learning style. Whether a student is a visual learner who benefits from diagrams or someone who needs to talk through problems, I adjust my approach accordingly. I also emphasize the importance of practice by working through problems together and providing additional resources for independent study.

Typical Lesson Plan:

Review: Start with a quick review of previous material to reinforce learning.
Concept Introduction: Introduce new topics using simple, clear explanations and examples.
Practice Problems: Solve problems together, gradually increasing difficulty to challenge and build confidence.
Q&A: Answer any lingering questions and address areas where the student needs extra help.
Wrap-Up: Summarize key points and assign practice problems to reinforce the lesson.
What Sets Me Apart:
As a high school student, I can relate to the challenges my peers face in learning math. I’ve recently learned these concepts myself, so I understand how to explain them in a way that’s easy to follow. I aim to create a comfortable, judgment-free environment where students feel supported and encouraged to ask questions.
