About Laura

Hi! I'm a licensed math teacher (Grades 8–12) with a strong passion for making math accessible, understandable, and even enjoyable for every student. I’ve had the privilege of tutoring learners from 2nd grade through college, but I specialize in high school math—particularly Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Statistics. What drives me as a tutor is helping students build real confidence in their math skills. I know that math can feel intimidating, so I focus on clear explanations, patience, and personalized strategies that meet each student where they are. My goal is always to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing. About the lesson

My Tutoring Approach:

As a math tutor, I focus on helping students build both confidence and deep understanding. I use a step-by-step teaching style that emphasizes why a concept works, not just how to solve a problem. My sessions are interactive and tailored to each student's learning style, with plenty of room for questions, discussion, and guided practice.

Typical Lesson Plan:

A typical session starts with a quick check-in to review previous material and identify areas that need reinforcement. From there, we move into the day’s topic, using a blend of visual aids, examples, and practice problems tailored to the student's level and learning style. I also make space for questions throughout the session and end with a recap or a mini-assessment to reinforce what we covered.

What Sets Me Apart:

What sets me apart is my experience across a wide range of grade levels—I've tutored students from 2nd grade all the way through college-level math, with most of my experience focused on high school courses. This broad background allows me to adapt to different levels of understanding and learning needs. I’m patient, approachable, and known for making complex topics feel more manageable and less intimidating. I’m patient, encouraging, and skilled at breaking down complex concepts in a way that actually sticks.

Who I Work With:

I primarily tutor high school students in subjects like Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics, and SAT/ACT prep. I also support younger students building foundational math skills, as well as college students in entry-level math courses. Whether you’re catching up, keeping up, or getting ahead, I tailor each lesson to your specific goals.
