About Makayla

Hi, I’m Makayla — a certified Reading Simplified tutor, high‑school English TA, and experienced academic mentor who loves helping students feel confident, capable, and proud of their progress. I’ve worked with learners from early elementary through high school, and I’m passionate about making reading and writing feel clear, manageable, and even fun.
I’m known for breaking down tough concepts into simple, memorable steps and for using creative strategies — chants, analogies, call‑and‑response, and playful memory tricks — to help students truly understand what they’re learning. My students feel supported, encouraged, and safe to ask questions, and I always meet them exactly where they are.
