About Pranav

I have always had a passion for mathematics and statistics and for understanding the meaning behind all those intimidating and clunky formulas and the way they are like that. Understanding the meaning behind the language of the universe is certainly important in understanding why things happen in various ways and understanding maths alone has helped me a lot in my studies in Physics, Chemistry and in understanding the very nature of this world. It helps us question the things around us and helps us generalise a situation into a very interesting set of implications or possibilities. Take for example how light behaves or the mechanics of a ball in projectile motion or the trigonometry behind rotating systems, and think about the Calculus of these situations in how things change and move about or generally tend to behave. Why do they behave like that? Why does this proof look like this? What does this really mean in this situation? How do I get this idea? These are all the ideas that draw me close to this subject of beauty, change, and motion. These ideas give me very interesting outlooks on the world. The basic question of "why is the universe like this?'.

About the lesson

As a high achieving high school student, I have discovered that realising mathematics as a powerful language by understanding it through proofs based on formal definitions and lemmas and viewing maths from different perspectives that are suitable for one is very important for thoroughly understanding it and developing a passion for it. And applying it in different situations. Realising the meaning of it geometrically, algebraically, or by the use of compelling results is also very essential to understanding the meaning of mathematics for any student of the subject. I offer help with NCEA level 2 and 3 style questions relating to Algebra and Calculus with explanations to answers, alongside help with scholarship-level Calculus questions. The typical length of a lesson will be for about 1 hour. This is mostly directed to students who are around 14-18 years old however any age is suitable if they understand the basics of arithmetic and algebraic manipulation and have the will to learn or improve their skill set.
