About Christina
I remember how alone and daunted I felt by the academic work I was expected to do as a young music student. But I sought help and through my academic studies I became fascinated by the careers of popular performers and their identity. I really threw myself into learning research and critical thinking which allowed me eventually to pursue a PhD. I gained confidence in my own ability to pursue my dreams and interests with passion and commitment. I love to work with students who feel unconfident and to help them become fascinated and joyous in their research and thinking and to pursue their essays with passion and meaning. My research interests are popular and historical performer studies, art and activism, celebrity studies, art, media and film, theatre, singing, music, gender and feminism, decolonisation, cultural theory, politics and many more linked topics.

Coaching on all aspects of dissertation studies, undergraduate study skills, academic writing, study skills, undergraduate and Masters level dissertation supervision, research and critical skills. I have 18 years' experience supervising dissertations and teaching music, music history, culture and politics, music technology, and cultural studies for art students, at London Metropolitan University. I love to inspire students to get involved with equality and inclusion, political debate, controversial subjects and to feel empowered to tackle subjects they love. I also love helping students with gaining confidence in academic skills and with the nuts and bolts of referencing, structuring of work, argument style, and critical thinking. I love developing your student voice in essays and dissertations alongside empowering you to engage with current debates in the arts, culture and politics. Lessons are one-hour sessions.
