About Florence

I am currently studying my final third year of a level 6 diploma in nutritional therapy.
Our first year consisted of level 5 Biomedicine, where I achieved a distinction.
-level 3 access to HE in the sciences (Distinction)
-Mathematics A-level (A)
I have over 3 years working with Children and assisting in home education.

About the lesson

My teaching method varies on the students needs and I always start by assessing their learning style and ability before making a personalised plan for what we will achieve in our sessions together.

We will use a range of different study tools and techniques to make the session interactive, fun and easy to memorise.

I cover science and maths from key stage 2 to key stage 4.

When I was at school maths and science were portrayed as heavily male subjects which made it harder for us women to picture ourselves in this field.

Having now studied biomedicine to level 5 plus a mathematics A-level (Where i achieved top marks in each) I can see clearly how this stereotype has effected the gender gap in these subjects and I want to empower girls to feel confident in their knowledge and to ensure that their grades give them the possibility of taking these subjects further, if desired.

I encourage girls to feel confident in asking questions and being active in their learning.
I aim to take away the stigma around being "wrong". In my sessions a mistake is just seen as an opportunity to learn.
