About Arthur
"Fluency arrives when you stop translating in your head and start thinking in the rhythm of the language. I must admit that the initial struggle with idioms is the most rewarding part of the process for me. My background in Spanish repertoire informs the way I coach you on intonation and expression.
You will practise through role play and dialogue that mimics real life scenarios. Travel Spanish is a primary focus for many of my students. Business Spanish requires a specific level of formality that we cultivate through careful study.
It is delightful to see students finally connect with the soul of the language. My personal passion for Spanish music always finds a way into our discussions."

"Technical precision in accent and intonation remains the cornerstone of my teaching. To be perfectly honest, I find that many people undervalue the role of the body in producing foreign vowels. My MMus from the Guildhall and BA from Oxford are not just credentials but tools I use to deconstruct the mechanics of speech. Twenty years on the concert stage provided me with an intimate knowledge of how to project and shape sounds effectively.
I translate the discipline of performance into a structured method for learning Spanish. My narrative involves a long career of interpreting the works of Falla and Granados. This path has given me a refined, cultured perspective on the nuances of Spanish dialects. I am a lifelong student of the arts who enjoys sharing these discoveries with you."
