With a background in Science Graduation & B.Ed, I have spent the last 15 years helping primary school children navigate the world of numbers and wonder of Science. About the lesson

1. Teaching Techniques and Methods I believe that math for primary students should be "seen and felt" before it is calculated. My primary methods include: Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract (CPA) Approach: We start with physical objects (like beads or blocks), move to drawing pictures, and finally solve the numerical problem. Total Physical Response (TPR): I use hand gestures and movement to explain concepts like "greater than/less than" or "shapes," which is vital for keeping young learners engaged on screen. 2. The Structure of a Typical Class (60 Minutes) Each session is designed to maintain the short attention span of Class 1–5 students: The Warm-Up (5-7 Mins): A "Math Riddle" or a quick mental math sprint to wake up the brain. The Concept Dive (20 Mins): Using an interactive whiteboard to demonstrate the day's topic with colorful visuals. Guided Practice (15 Mins): "I do, We do, You do"—I solve a problem, we solve one together, and then the student tries one independently. Interactive Review (10 Mins): A quick digital quiz or a hands-on activity to check for understanding. Wrap-Up & Reward (8 Mins): Summarizing the lesson and awarding "Digital Stickers" or points for participation. 3. Special Features as a Teacher Bilingual Instruction: Being based in Kolkata, I can explain complex math logic in English, Bengali, or Hindi, ensuring the child truly understands the "Why" behind the "How."
