About Jose Nicolas
My name is Nicolas Dousdebes. I am an international graduate student at PACS-MA (Peace and Conflict Studies) at University of Manitoba.
Before traveling to Canada to start my Masters’ Degree, I worked as as a full-time Social Communication professor at Salesian University (UPS/Quito - Ecuador). This position offered me the chance to help students attain their learning goals, through teaching, tutoring their research projects, gathering data, and supervising graduate students’ thesis.
In addition, my first job linked to higher education was teaching foreign languages in Ecuador. As such, I taught French, English and Italian to university students. My mother tongue is Spanish but I learned French when I was a child at school. Later on, I completed two intensive courses at Alliance Française (in France and Ecuador) getting the French Advanced Diploma (DALF).

I enjoy teaching languages to students who are also passionate about them. My approach is not only based on grammar but also in managing everyday situations using the language is being studied.
During the lessons, we are going to learn all skills. On the one hand, listening and speaking. On the other hand, reading and writing.
I usually speak in the language the student is supposed to be learning, however, I translate almost all the content to make sure it is understood, especially at a basic level.
