I have a BS degree in Electrical Engineering, a minor in Math, and a Master's degree in Computer Science. Also, I have 12 years of software development experience specializing in automated testing, embedded systems, and data-driven analysis. I spent nine years at Lockheed Martin and two years at Cruise, building deep expertise across embedded software, hardware-in-the-loop testing, system verification, and large-scale automation frameworks.

About the lesson

I believe that effective learning happens when students not only understand the material but also see its relevance in the real world. My tutoring approach centers on three pillars: clarity, engagement, and practical application. I work to make math feel approachable, logical, and even enjoyable, especially for students who may initially feel intimidated by the subject. Teaching Methods & Techniques: 1. Personalized Instruction I begin by assessing each student’s current skill level, learning style, and goals. This helps me tailor explanations, examples, and practice problems to match their pace and strengths. 2. Conceptual Understanding First I focus on why something works before moving on to how to compute it. When students grasp concepts deeply, problem-solving becomes far easier and more intuitive. 3. Use of Real-World Examples Whether it's using algebra to understand savings growth, geometry to analyze design problems, or statistics to interpret trends, I connect math concepts to practical, relatable contexts to make learning meaningful and memorable. 4. Interactive Learning I encourage students to think aloud, ask questions, and explore different strategies so they're not just memorizing procedures—they’re building problem-solving confidence. 5. Positive, Supportive Environment I keep the tone encouraging and patient, especially for students who may struggle. I want them to associate math with curiosity instead of frustration. A Typical Lesson Plan: Warm-Up (5 minutes) Quick review of previous concepts or a short real-world challenge to activate thinking. Concept Exploration (10–15 minutes) Introduce the new topic using visuals, analogies, or practical scenarios. Guided Practice (15–20 minutes) Work through problems together, gradually increasing difficulty while encouraging the student to explain their reasoning. Independent Practice (10–15 minutes) Student solves problems independently while I observe and support only where needed. Real-World Application (5–10 minutes) Show how this concept appears in everyday life, technology, engineering, or data—reinforcing the purpose of the lesson.
