About Ruth
I am a freelance writer and editor with a background in state school and higher education. My poetry, fiction and essays have appeared in magazines and anthologies such as Away with Words and Horizon Magazine. I’m currently being mentored on the Faber mentorship programme and sending out my new novel on submission to literary agents. In my spare time, I enjoy socialising, listening to music, dancing and playing football. I generally aim to be engaging, informative and insightful.

I am an individual with a love of people, writing, and the arts, with excellent social, interpersonal and communication skills. I pride myself on being organised, prompt and kind and will always share those values with whoever I tutor. I have experience working with students where English is their second language and SEND students with complex needs. I know the importance of patience and mutual understanding. My primary goal is that the students enjoy learning, and I pride myself on helping students find that spark with their education. A typical lesson can be between 1-2 hours. I have experience working on writing, reading, comprehension and editing with all ages from 8 - 80 years old.
