My teaching approach
I teach in a hands-on and patient way. I believe the best way to learn is by working directly with clay and understanding form through doing. I don’t rush students to finish pieces; instead, I focus on helping them understand structure, balance, and how forms come together.
Teaching methods
I usually demonstrate a technique first and then let students try it themselves. While they work, I guide them individually, depending on their pace and comfort level. I use simple exercises to explain ideas like volume, proportion, and stability, and I encourage students to experiment without fear of making mistakes.
How a typical class works
Each class starts with a short demonstration or explanation of the day’s technique. Most of the time is spent making, where students work on exercises or their own pieces while I give one-on-one feedback. We end the class by looking at the work together and talking about what can be improved in the next session.
What makes my teaching different
I am an active practicing sculptor, so I teach from real studio experience. I share practical tips about materials, tools, and processes that I use in my own work. I focus on helping students understand why something works, not just how to copy a form.
Who these classes are for
My classes are for beginners, hobby learners, and art students. I teach school students, college-level learners, and adults. No prior experience is needed—just an interest in working with clay and learning through hands-on practice.
