About Tess

I hold a Master’s degree in Music with specialisation in guitar and bring eight years of teaching experience across diverse age groups and skill levels. My approach balances structured technical training with creative exploration, ensuring students gain both precision and expressive ability in their playing. Beyond teaching, I actively perform and continuously study new methods and repertoire. Staying engaged in performance and practice allows me to bring fresh ideas, modern techniques, and practical insights into lessons, keeping learning relevant, inspiring, and connected to real-world musical experiences. What I value most is helping students discover their unique musical voice. I adapt lessons to each learner’s strengths and challenges, celebrating achievements along the way. My goal is to nurture both technical mastery and a lifelong love for music and creative expression.

About the lesson

My lessons begin with building a solid foundation in guitar fundamentals, including posture, finger placement, and basic chord progressions. Students work on exercises to strengthen finger dexterity, rhythm, and coordination, preparing them to approach songs and techniques with confidence and precision. As students progress, I introduce scales, improvisation, and ear training, connecting technique with musical creativity. Learners explore various genres such as classical, rock, blues, and acoustic. By applying their skills to real songs, students develop both technical proficiency and expressive musicality, enhancing their overall performance. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s individual goals, whether preparing for exams, performing on stage, or learning for personal enjoyment. Through consistent feedback, step-by-step guidance, and encouragement, students experience steady improvement while building confidence and a deeper appreciation for guitar music.
