About Briar
My journey as a guitar tutor began with a lifelong fascination with melody, rhythm, and musical expression. I earned a B.Mus in Guitar Performance and Contemporary Music Studies, gaining comprehensive knowledge in both performance and pedagogy. Over 12 years, I have taught students across all skill levels, helping them develop technical proficiency, musical interpretation, and performance confidence in diverse genres.
I teach with patience, encouragement, and a focus on individual goals. Lessons combine structured technical exercises with improvisation, repertoire study, and creative challenges, ensuring that students cultivate both competence and artistic expression. I aim to foster independence, confidence, and a personal connection to music in every student.
Beyond teaching, I remain engaged in performing, composing, and exploring new musical styles. Teaching guitar is profoundly rewarding because I witness students grow technically and artistically, develop self-confidence, and discover their unique musical voice. Supporting their musical journey is one of the most fulfilling aspects of my career.
