About Dean
My interest in guitar began with the excitement of creating sound from simple patterns and shapes on the fretboard. This passion inspired me to pursue a B.F.A in Contemporary Guitar Performance and later an M.A in Music Education, where I deepened my understanding of technique, expression, and learner-focused teaching. Over the past 7 years, I’ve guided students with a calm, encouraging approach that emphasizes clarity, patience, and genuine enjoyment of the instrument. I teach by adapting each concept to the student’s pace, helping them feel confident and supported even when learning challenging techniques. I enjoy helping learners understand not only how to play but why certain techniques work, fostering long-term independence and deeper musical awareness. Whether working on rhythm, lead playing, or expressive shaping, I focus on helping students feel proud of their improvement. Outside teaching, I stay active in performing, recording small projects, and studying new musical styles that keep my instruction fresh and inspired. Teaching guitar remains one of the most fulfilling parts of my life because I get to witness students grow into creative musicians with a clear sense of their own musical identity.

Guitar becomes enjoyable when students receive calm, steady guidance that helps them understand both the technical and expressive sides of playing. My lessons focus on developing coordination, rhythm awareness, finger comfort, musical phrasing, and interpretive confidence. I break down techniques into practical steps that make improvement predictable and rewarding. Whether a student wants to learn acoustic, electric, or fingerstyle, I tailor each lesson to their goals and comfort level.
Beginners explore simple chords, strumming patterns, rhythmic basics, and melodic exercises that build early confidence. Intermediate students develop picking control, bar chords, fretboard familiarity, expressive playing, and stylistic shaping. Advanced learners work on improvisation, tone refinement, performance readiness, advanced articulation, and creative interpretation. Every lesson includes technique checks, guided practice, and encouraging feedback that supports healthy musical growth.
My guitar lessons help students discover their artistic personality while gaining solid technical grounding. As they progress, learners experience greater confidence, musical curiosity, and expressive freedom. My goal is to support each student in becoming a thoughtful, capable player who enjoys every stage of their musical journey.
