About Riley
I have been passionate about guitar from a young age, leading me to earn a B.Mus in Guitar Performance and an M.Mus in Contemporary Music. Over the past 11 years, I have taught students ranging from beginners to advanced performers, helping them develop technical proficiency, musical expression, and stage confidence. My approach emphasizes a supportive, creative, and motivating learning environment where students feel empowered to explore and grow.
I combine technical exercises, repertoire development, improvisation, performance coaching, and reflective practice to ensure comprehensive musical growth. Students are encouraged to set personal goals, experiment creatively, and develop their own musical voice. Lessons are tailored to the student’s individual style, skill level, and musical interests, promoting both engagement and steady progress.
Beyond teaching, I actively perform, study diverse musical styles, and explore contemporary guitar pedagogy. Bringing these insights into lessons allows me to offer students rich, informed guidance. Witnessing learners transform their technical skill, musicality, and confidence is deeply fulfilling, making teaching guitar one of the most rewarding aspects of my career.

My guitar lessons focus on developing technical proficiency, musical expression, and creative exploration in a welcoming and engaging environment. Lessons cover fingerstyle and pick techniques, chord progression, scales, improvisation, soloing, tone shaping, and expressive phrasing. I integrate performance exercises, songwriting, ensemble practice, and repertoire study to ensure students grow as both technically skilled and musically expressive performers. Each session emphasizes exploration, reflection, and skill development, encouraging learners to cultivate their individual voice and confidence on the instrument.
Intermediate and advanced learners work on complex solos, improvisation, advanced chord voicings, style interpretation, and performance preparation. I provide personalized feedback on technique, musicality, and expression, guiding students to refine their unique sound and stage presence. Lessons include exercises in timing, dynamics, and musical storytelling, fostering both technical mastery and artistic creativity. I aim to create an atmosphere where students are challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their musical potential.
Studying guitar enhances discipline, creativity, musical intelligence, and personal expression. Students often experience increased confidence, artistic insight, and a deeper connection with music.
