About Hayes
My journey with the guitar began at sixteen when I picked up my first instrument and discovered how music could speak where words couldn’t. Over nine years of teaching, I’ve shared that same spark with hundreds of students, helping them uncover their own voices through sound. What began as a hobby has become both a passion and a calling — a way to connect, inspire, and create. I teach with an emphasis on patience, positivity, and adaptability. My philosophy is that anyone can learn the guitar, no matter their age or background, as long as they feel supported and motivated. I focus on building confidence through small, consistent victories that gradually lead to mastery. Outside the classroom, I compose, perform, and collaborate with other musicians, always bringing new inspiration back into my lessons. For me, the greatest reward is seeing a student’s eyes light up when they realize they can play a song they once thought impossible. Those moments remind me why I teach — because music changes people, and every lesson is a chance to help someone experience that transformation.

My guitar lessons are centered on one core idea — that music should feel natural, expressive, and fulfilling. I guide students to develop not only skill and accuracy but also a deep appreciation for the artistry of sound. Lessons combine structured exercises with creative exploration, teaching students how to connect emotion to movement and sound. Whether acoustic, classical, or electric, my approach adapts to each student’s goals, ensuring a balance between technical foundation and artistic freedom.
Beginners start with chords, rhythm, and strumming patterns using familiar songs to build motivation. Intermediate players learn advanced techniques such as fingerstyle, scales, improvisation, and music theory. Advanced learners focus on stage presence, tone shaping, complex repertoire, and songwriting. I encourage creativity through small composing exercises, live playing, and ear training.
My ultimate goal is for students to feel at home with their instrument — to express themselves freely and confidently. Guitar lessons often become a sanctuary where students find joy, focus, and release. Over time, they learn not just how to play but how to listen: to themselves, to others, and to the music between the notes. Many describe lessons as transformative — improving not only their musicianship but also their patience, confidence, and emotional resilience. Watching students grow from hesitant strummers into expressive performers is what keeps me inspired every single day.
