About Emily

I am a competitive figure skater, having been a national representative for the past 3 years. I was at the peak of my career during the final two years of high school, meaning I had to be that much more on top of my studies and developing the best possible methods of learning and revision. As part of my skating career, I have become a trained and accredited coach. I have plenty of experience coaching, mentoring and guiding students of all ages and abilities. I graduated from Somerville House in 2017 and was given immediate entry into my first QTAC preference as a result of my acceptance into the Griffith University Sports College. I am currently studying a Bachelor of Forensic Science (Majoring in Molecular Biology) and a Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice and absolutely loving the experience. I love teaching, learning and forming new connections. I would one day love to teach within my field and become a university tutor.

About the lesson

My teaching methods are based upon each individual need. I would begin every new partnership with a consultation with the student and/or their parents, discussing individual needs and areas of weakness as well as any specific concerns or already formed learning methods. I believe it's important to assist the student in developing their own methods of study and revision, and allowing them to take away these materials and methods to apply to their other subjects. I tailor my teaching methods to each student, but focus strongly on identifying an equal area of strength to accompany every weakness and building up the student's confidence in their own work through revision quizzes, reward systems and revision methods (such as flashcards, personalised word searches etc; things that make learning fun)
