About Maryem
Salut! My name is Maryem, and I am a native French speaker who has been immersed in the French language and culture my whole life. French is my mother tongue, and I grew up primarily speaking it in my home country of Morocco. I graduated high school with a bilingual diploma in French A Higher Level in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma having achieved a perfect score (7) . I bring years of tutoring experience, having helped secondary school students with developing proficiency in the language. I would also like to credit my father, a French professor for over 30 years, who inspired me with effective teaching strategies, which I now integrate into lesson plans to create a supportive and engaging learning environment.
I like to think that my teaching approach is quite extensive and holistic. I prioritize interactive learning by incorporating speaking, listening, reading and writing exercises. This helps a lot with phonetics and pronunciation. I ensure that lessons are personalized based on each student’s strengths, challenges and learning styles. Furthermore, I believe it is extremely crucial with the french language to build the student’s confidence and ensure that they are comfortable expressing themselves in French. Finally, I take pride in enriching language learning through cultural context incorporation, as it makes them feel closer and more connected to the language.
