About Marc
I'm a husband and a father of 3. My passion has always been to help others. I started my career in my 20s, working in hospice for 10 years. Soon after, I wanted to pursue a career in teaching. Once I got into the school district, I was a paraprofessional for 6 years. I decided to further my career. I went back to college and got my degree in Special Needs. During the summer months, I worked at a private special-needs school. Once I finished my student teaching, I returned to the district and started running a specialized program for special needs.
Within the next few years, I plan to return to college to earn an Admin degree in leadership and pursue my next goal of becoming a principal.

As a special education teacher, I specialize in SDI. I teach based on the students' prior knowledge so that they can tie new content to what they already know. I use manipulatives, as some people are better learners with their hands and visuals than with reading from a book.
My typical lesson includes breaking down what is being learned into segments, so no one gets overwhelmed. Followed by seeing what the student already knows and pinpointing where the disconnect is from the day-to-day lesson.
What sets me apart from other tutors is my special education degree; I have patience far more than most general education teachers. I expect frustration and breakdowns, and I work to overcome them with new techniques.
My lessons are targeted towards K-8, Math & Science.
